The Harvard Chan School has a long-standing collaboration with a number of public health research and training institutions in Tanzania. This relationship began more than four decades ago in various aspects of public health and has become even stronger during the last 25 years through joint large research studies, and both programmatic and training activities. The Harvard-Tanzania Partnership is comprised of a multi-disciplinary research team in the United States and Tanzania. Through this collaboration, more than 20 funded interventional studies focusing on perinatal health outcomes, nutrition and infectious diseases have been successfully completed. Presently, 10 more HSPH research studies and training grants are actively being implemented in Tanzania.
AAPH in collaboration with the Harvard Chan School and MUHAS hosted several activities as part of a series of events that usually take place in January. Among activities was the half a day meeting to celebrate the Silver Jubilee (25th Anniversary) of the Harvard-Tanzania Collaboration. This meeting brought together experts from different fields of public health from Tanzania, and other countries including the United States. It provided a platform to review achievements made through this collaboration and discuss opportunities to advance research, training, capacity building and the evidence translation to policy and practice agenda.
This meeting was held in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania on 15th January 2018 at the Double Tree by Hilton Hotel, Dar es Salaam- Oyster Bay
