Africa Academy for Public Health (AAPH) – being a Member of the World Health Summit (WHS) Academic Alliance - was invited to the WHS 2025 in Berlin, Germany themed ‘Taking Responsibility for Health in a Fragmenting World’.

WHS 2025 was preceded by the WHS Academic Alliance (WHS-AA) Meeting on 11th October 2025. Among other items, the WHS-AA discussed the eminent WHS 2025 agenda and the upcoming WHS Regional Meeting (WHS-RM) 2026 hosted by Aga Khan University in Kenya. AAPH is a committee member of the WHS-RM 2026 preparations as such. Dr. Mashavu Yussuf and Amani Tinkasimile represented AAPH in this WHS-AA Meeting.

AAPH also joined the very first WHS-AA technical working group; The Maternal and Child Health Working Group (WG). This was following virtual meetings prior to the WHS 2025. The WG met during the afternoon workshops of the WHS-AA Meeting to recap on accomplishments thus far and plan for eminent next steps in performing the proposed work using Implementation Science approaches with a co-creation nature - where maternal and child health interventions will be revamped in India for the next 3 years. WHS-AA Members, including AAPH, are mainly the Science Powerhouse for this project providing cross learning and transferability of best practices. Dr. Mashavu Yussuf, Dr. Innocent Mboya and Amani Tinkasimile represented AAPH in this workshop. AAPH later participated in the WHS-AA Networking Dinner where WHS 2025 partners were invited for a meet-and-greet.

Delegates from AAPH fully participated in the WHS 2025 activities from 12th to 14th October 2025 per the set program. Furthermore, AAPH attended a networking lunch organized at the South African Embassy in Berlin by Bayer and UNIDO where we had discussions around creating an environment that fosters equitable access to medicines and care within Africa.
