AAPH has developed a manual for training Tanzanian Local Government Authority (LGA) officials on Operational Research (OR) to improve the nutritional status of women, children and adolescents in 4 Regions of Tanzania -USAID’s Lishe Endelevu Activity.
In efforts to ensure awareness and continued collaboration of this OR Training manual by the government that will contribute to sustainability of the activity, AAPH brought together in a 3-days’ workshop with various key stakeholders involved in nutrition, research and data management to review and thus improve on the draft manual. Stakeholders who participated in the three days’ workshop included: the Assistant Director Nutrition Services - MOHCDGEC, Nutrition Coordinator at PORALG, technical experts from TFNC, the National Institute of Medical Research (NIMR) as well as representation of LGA nutrition and research coordinators from Dar es Salaam region. AAPH incorporated the valuable inputs provided by the different experts into the training manual and successfully conducted a pilot operational research training that led to the roll out of the full training beginning with Morogoro region from 24th to 28th August 2020 involving 24 participants from 5 councils.
Todate, AAPH has completed the OR Trainings in all 4 Regions of Tanzania -USAID’s Lishe Endelevu Activity, having trained 97 LGA officials. The trained LGA officials are working to complete their research proposals and to empark on diverse research adventures with mentorship and guidence from AAPH.
