Internships
The Short-Term Internship program at the Africa Academy for Public Health (AAPH) provides an opportunity for university students to gain first-hand experiences in public health research.
Students are mentored by leading researchers and scientists in the field of public health from AAPH or from any of our collaborating institutions; Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health (HSPH), Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS), and Management and Development for Health (MDH).
The experiences range from clinical and laboratory work to fieldwork. Students learn the ins and outs of conducting research involving human subjects in a developing country, and gain practical experiences in areas such as research proposal writing, research tools development, data collection, data analysis and dissemination of findings. Internship locations range from urban and rural regions in Tanzania to other sub-Saharan countries within the ARISE network.
The internship program covers a minimum of eight weeks, between June and August of every year.
